Expedited Reinstatement of Benefits
Expedited Reinstatement (EXR) of disability benefits is available to certain recipients effective January 2001. EXR applies to those whose benefits stopped with the past 60 months due to earnings and who are now unable to work because of a medical condition that is the same or related to the condition on which the prior benefit eligibility was based. Those who appear eligible for EXR can receive conditional benefits for up to six months while SSA conducts a medical improvement review. |
